Are you planning to move your Kitchener office? Whether it’s going to be down the street, or to a neighboring city that’s part of the GTA, you need to start thinking about your business furnishings. Specifically, which of those business furnishings are worth moving… and which are better left in the past?
Because moving allows you to start fresh, it’s always best to consider leaving behind these types of furniture so you can make room for something exciting and updated at your new location:
Desks and Chairs. Unless you recently purchased your desks and chairs, why not use your move as a springboard to invest in a more comprehensive, modern style of business furnishings? There are some amazing, cost-effective desks and chairs in the marketplace, including ones that help workers resist fatigue and improve productivity.
Cubbies. Have your employees been working in a cubicle-land environment for far too long? Release them from this kind of existence by moving toward open-concept spaces at your next facility. If you do still want some cubicle areas, consider cubicle walls that are only partial walls, or that are made from clear materials to define the space, but not create maze-like floorplans.
Client Seating. When was the last time you updated the chairs and tables you offer your clients when they’re waiting for the start of a meeting? Cozier and comfortable is the wave of the modern business landscape, and there are some incredible home-inspired business furnishings that mimic the mid-century modern appearance that’s gaining momentum in the corporate interior design world.
Of course, there are other items that you’ll definitely want to move with you, such as:
Technological Equipment. As long as your technology is working, it should be taken with you. This includes older computers and laptops whose data has not been scrubbed. Remember that if you have client info on these devices, it’s up to you to protect that data.
Decorative Items and Awards. Obviously, you don’t want to leave any décor that could be used at your new place, nor do you want to keep awards from traveling with you. If those awards have been relegated to a back room for years, consider bringing them into the light!
Filing Cabinets. Okay, these might not look great, but if you can use them in a basement or storage space at your new location, they may be worth taking with you. On the other hand, if space is limited and the filing cabinets won’t match your updated space, you can leave them where they are or sell them to the highest bidder. Just be certain to take the files they contain!
